eSIM not connecting

Short answer

Start with the phone settings, not the eSIM. Check that the BaobabSIM line is on and selected for mobile data, turn Data Roaming on for that line and restart the phone. If there is still no internet after 10 minutes, email us your order link, phone model and screenshots.

Do the checks in this order. Test mobile data after each one with Wi-Fi turned off.

1. The line is on and chosen for data

The BaobabSIM line must be switched on and set as the line for mobile data. On iPhone: Settings, Cellular, Cellular Data. On Android: the Mobile data setting in the SIM manager. Step-by-step instructions are in Switch your eSIM on when you land.

2. Data Roaming is on for the eSIM line

A regional plan needs Data Roaming on, and some local profiles do too. Turn it on for the BaobabSIM line only. The plan is prepaid, so this cannot add charges to the eSIM.

3. Restart the connection

Turn Airplane Mode on, wait 30 seconds and turn it off again. If nothing changes, restart the phone.

4. Choose the network by hand

  1. On iPhone: Settings, Cellular, the BaobabSIM line, Network Selection, then turn off Automatic. On Android: the SIM settings, Mobile networks, Network operators, then turn off Select automatically.
  2. Wait for the list of networks. On a local plan, choose the network it runs on: Orange for our Morocco plans. On a regional plan, choose each network in the list in turn and give each a minute.
  3. If none of them connects, turn Automatic back on before you write to us.

5. Signal and location

Coverage is weaker inside large buildings, in basements, in desert and mountain areas and at sea. Step outside or move to a window and try again.

6. The data allowance

Once the allowance is used up, the network may slow down or stop mobile data until the plan ends. If the eSIM worked earlier, check this first: your phone shows the data used per line in the mobile data settings.

Still not working

Email contact@baobabsim.com while you are in the country, with:

  • the link to your order page;
  • your phone model and software version;
  • the city or place you are in;
  • what the phone shows next to the eSIM line, for example No Service, SOS or signal bars without internet;
  • screenshots of the mobile network settings.

We work on the problem with you. If the eSIM cannot be made to work, you get a full refund under the Refund policy.

These are not faults of the eSIM: a phone that does not support eSIM or is locked to a carrier, mobile data or the eSIM line switched off, weak coverage in remote areas or inside buildings, and the network’s normal speed limits after an allowance is used up.
